Nicky Trussler

Nicky is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, APTA Registered Play Therapy Supervisor, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist and Certified Autplay®️ Therapist, with over 20 years' experience helping and supporting children and their families. 

Nicky specialises in providing therapy to children and adolescents with disabilities including autistic children, using an integrated play therapy approach which helps them build their capacity and reach their potential. Nicky works respectfully with children and their families to understand behaviours, increase their ability to regulate their emotions, and develop social navigation skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Nicky's qualifications include a Masters in Social Work, Bachelor's Degree with Honors in Education, Post Qualifying Award in Child and Family Practice and Postgraduate Diploma in Youth Mental Health. She is also a qualified Initiatic Art Therapist and Clayfield Therapist, integrating these approaches into therapy. Nicky is a current board member of the Australian Play Therapists Association.    

Since qualifying as a Social Worker in 2005 Nicky has held a variety of roles including as a behaviour consultant for children with disabilities, a mental health clinician for children and adolescents in public mental health setting and a therapeutic practitioner for children at risk in the community.
